Government

Government in Sonoma County is overseen at the county level by the Board of Supervisors and the county government.  Within this body is the Permit Resource Management Department which many people think of as the building and planning department.  If property is not located inside the city limits this is the place to go for information about permits, zoning, environmental and public health, violations, research, etc.

There are 9 cities in Sonoma County and each has its own government body, a City Council and Mayor that oversees the government.  Each also has its own building and planning departments which differ in zoning, permitting and many other regulations.
