Windsor Town Green

Windsor is Sonoma County's newest city, incorporated in 1992 and still retaining a small town community feeling. The old downtown is increasingly vital and the addition of a plaza gives the community a real center. The new Town Green is home to concerts and many community activities. Windsor has grown up with a vision for living quality, pedestrain and bike friendly.

The new downtown design offers live work opportunities, easy walking to shops and restaurants and a strong sense of community. Windsor residents love their town and come out for all kind of activities on the green from Shakespeare to outdoor movies. Summer Nights on the Green is what wine country living is all about. Dining out has a European flair with many restaurants offering open air seating. The summer brings a farmers market and like most in Sonoma County farmers bring high quality fresh produce to the square.

On the east side of 101 is a major shopping center, Foothills Regional Park and many places to live from gated communities to condos. Less known is the unincorporated area to the west where some of the world's best Pinot is grown. Many people do not think of open country as being part of the Windsor community, but it is and is also some of the most beautiful land in the county.

There is plenty of recreation  here. Activities include golf, hiking or biking at Foothills Regional Park. One of Windsor's main events is the Hot Air Balloon Celebration held over Fourth of July Weekend.

Windsor tends to be more affordable than towns to the South. It will also have a new train station when the SMART rail comes on line in the coming years. This will make the downtown even more popular and link Windsor more directly to the whole bay area.
