Occidental is located on one of our most scenic roads, Bohemian Highway. Nestled in a small valley this town was originally the last stop west for the Pacific Railroad, when timber was king of the area.
The small village is has an eclectic mix of old timers and famous traditional Italian restaurants and newcomers with newer restuarants featuring organic local cuisine. It is a mecca for cycling and there are charming B&B's for lodging.
Nearby Occidental are local, award-winning wineries and tasting rooms for wine enthusiasts. Like many of our towns there is the local Bohemian Farmers' Market on Fridays, filled with outdoor food and entertainment and featuring organic fruits and vegetables and local crafts.
Heading west from town it Coleman Valley Road, which I think is one of the most beautiful roads in the U.S. Both in town and in the surrounding hills you will find Redwoods, sunny open areas and many great places to
